Art Amolsch, Editor Emeritus

Art Amolsch is Editor Emeritus of FTC:WATCH. Art first came to Washington, DC in 1972 as a Foreign Service Officer with United States Department of State. In 1972, he left the State Department to work for then President Nixon- first as Chief Speech Writer for the Committee for the Reelection of the President and then later as the Deputy Press Secretary for the 1973 Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Art served as Director of Public Information at the Federal Trade Commission from 1973-1976 until he left public service to create FTC:WATCH.

In addition to his editorial work with FTC:WATCH, Art has served as an Advisory Board Member for the American Antitrust Institute since 2001.

Kirstin Downey, Managing Editor

Kirstin Downey is the Managing Editor of FTC:WATCH.

Ms. Downey is an award-winning business and economics reporter who, prior to joining FTC:WATCH, worked at the Washington Post for over 20 years covering a wide range of industries and financial trends. In 2010, Ms. Downey served as a writer and investigator on the staff of the bipartisan Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, a governmental study that investigated the causes and consequences of the corporate meltdown of 2008. Ms. Downey was also part of the Post’s Metro staff team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for coverage of the campus slayings at Virginia Tech. In 2000 and 2001, she was a Fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University.

Additionally, Ms. Downey is the author of “The Woman Behind the New Deal: The Life and Legacy of Frances Perkins,” which was published by Random House in 2009.

Ms. Downey is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.

Jacqueline L. Salmon, Associate Editor

Jacqueline L. Salmon is Associate Editor of FTC:WATCH.

Ms. Salmon is an award-winning business and economics reporter who, prior to joining FTC:WATCH, worked at the Washington Post for over 25 years covering business, consumer issues and nonprofit organizations.

In 2010-2011, Ms. Salmon was a senior officer at Pew Charitable Trusts, a nonprofit public policy organization. In 2009, she was senior media manager for Growthspur, a developer of tools, training, services and ad networks for hyperlocal news Web sites. She is the co-author of six books, including a memoir of Ronald Reagan.

Ms. Salmon is a graduate of Syracuse University.

Christopher Amolsch, Publisher

Christopher Amolsch, Esq., is the Publisher for FTC:WATCH.

In addition to his duties as Editor and Publisher of FTC:WATCH, Christopher Amolsch is a nationally recognized criminal defense lawyer and appears regularly in the press as expert legal commentator.

Mr. Amolsch graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University and is an Emory Law School Scholarship graduate of the Emory University School of Law.
